United Care Homes is looking for an experienced and compassionate Senior Care Worker to lead, support, and mentor our team of caregivers. As a Senior Care Worker, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, person-centred care to our clients and ensuring that our team consistently meets the highest standards of care. This role requires someone with a strong background in caregiving, excellent leadership skills, and a dedication to improving the well-being of others. You will be responsible for providing direct care, supervising junior care staff, and ensuring care plans are followed accurately and compassionately.

Responsibilities

  1. Provide High-Quality Personal Care: Assist clients with personal care tasks, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility assistance, while maintaining dignity and respect.
  2. Supervise and Mentor Care Staff: Oversee and support junior care workers, provide guidance and training as needed, and ensure all team members adhere to care plans and company standards.
  3. Administer and Oversee Medication: Ensure medications are administered correctly and in compliance with care plans, maintain accurate records, and monitor clients for any adverse reactions.
  4. Conduct Health and Safety Assessments: Perform regular risk assessments to maintain a safe environment for clients and staff, promptly addressing any hazards.
  5. Develop and Review Care Plans: Work closely with healthcare professionals and family members to create, review, and update individualized care plans that meet clients’ unique needs.
  6. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed records of clients’ daily activities, health changes, and other relevant observations to ensure continuity and quality of care.
  7. Build Positive Relationships with Clients and Families: Develop trusting, supportive relationships with clients and their families, providing updates and emotional support as needed.

Qualifications and Requirements

  1. Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a care role, with experience in a supervisory position preferred
  2. Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care (or equivalent) or willingness to obtain it
  3. Strong understanding of health and social care best practices, including safeguarding and medication administration
  4. Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
  5. Compassionate, reliable, and committed to delivering high-quality care
  6. Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings and weekends as required
